| Child Passenger Safety: What’s Available in Your Neighborhood With over 900 types of cars, 100 types of car seats and 20 types of belt systems it’s understandable that installing your child’s safety seat properly is a challenge for most parents. Even those who carefully follow the instruction manuals for both their child's safety seat and their vehicle are bound to miss something (we know we did on our son’s seat installation). So what can you do to ensure your child’s safety? Attend a car safety seat workshop! If you live in the Orlando area, please follow the location links below for upcoming workshops. If you live elsewhere in the country, visit Safe Kids USA to search for events or inspection stations in your area. You can also contact your local sheriff’s office or police department. For countries other than the USA, visit Safe Kids and click through to your country. You’ve spent a lot of time getting ready for your new baby and, once they’re here, you’ll spend even more time making sure they are comfortable, happy, healthy and loved. Why not take a few minutes to make sure they are safe too? It may be the best thing you can do for your child! Car Safety Seat Workshops Workshops are three-hour classes that will educate you on child passenger safety and the use of child safety seats. Not only will you gain valuable knowledge regarding your child’s safety but upon completion of the course, you will be eligible to purchase a new child safety seat at cost right there at the workshop! For participants receiving state assistance, car seats are available for purchase for $20. Sponsored by Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Children’s Safety Village and Safe Kids Orange County. Registration for the workshop is required through Susan at 407-521-4673x109. By registering, Susan will be able to ensure she has a seat available for purchase that is the appropriate size for your child. A few rules on workshops: - Adults-only class. (You have to leave the kiddos at home so you can concentrate!)
- Participants must bring a photo ID card and, if on assistance, the corresponding card.
- Be prepared to purchase your seat in cash, no checks or credit cards are accepted.
- You must bring an interpreter if you don’t speak and/or understand English.
